This recipe is delicious, easy and a staple in my household. Crank up the heat in your dinner with this Tofu in Chili Garlic Sauce! It’s perfect for spice-lovers and on the table in about 15 minutes!
Ingredients
14 oz soft tofu
2 cloves garlic
1 stalk green onion
2 TB soy sauce
3 dried hot red chili
3 TB DouBanJiang (fermented hot bean paste)
1/2 tsp cornstarch
Direction:
Step 1: Cut the tofu into 1/2-inch thick slices. You can further cut the slices in half crosswise if you like smaller slices. Slice green onion, garlic, and red chili.
Step 2: Preheat a nonstick pan with 1 generous tablespoons of cooking oil on medium-high. Add DouBanJiang ( fermented hot bean paste). Stir fry for 1 minutes till the oil turn red in color. Add garlic and red chili. Stir fry for 30 seconds. Add 1 cup water ( or chicken stock). Bring up to a boil. Add tofu. Gently move tofu around the pot so it would not stick to the pan. Bring up to a boil. Turn down the heat to low. Let simmer for 8-10 minutes. Add green onion. Mix well and serve.
