Fried Pork Chops

Need a quick and delicious way to cook that package of pork chops in the refrigerator or freezer? Fry them — in a skillet or in the oven — for a simple dinnertime solution.

Ingredients:

  • 4 pork chops (boneless)
  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • 1/2 to 1 cup bread crumbs
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 cup all purpose flour (for breading)
  • 1 cup canola (oil, for frying)

Directions:

Step 1: Cut the edge of pork chops in several places.  Use the back of the knife to flatten the pork chop.  Season with salt and pepper.

Step 2: Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes. Place flour in the first dish, lightly beaten eggs in the second dish, and panko bread crumbs in the third dish.  Coat each pork chop generously with flour, shaking any excess off.

Step 3:  Next, dip the pork into the beaten egg.

Step 3: Finally , coat the pork with bread crumbs and set aside on a platter.

Step 4: In a deep pan, heat canola oil for frying, to around 340 degrees Fahrenheit. Deep-fry breaded pork for a few minutes. Turn the pork over and fry a few more minutes or until cooked through and browned. About 5 minutes on each side for a total of approximately 10 to 11 minutes.
Remove pork from the oil and drain on paper towels.

Step 5:  While the pork is resting, put together a green salad.

Cut each pork chop into small lengthwise pieces and serve on plates with a green salad.
