Cabbage Soup With Ham


This easy cabbage soup with ham is hearty, healthy, easy to make, and tastes fantastic.  It is one of the most popular comfort food in China.


1 small piece ginger, sliced
1 small chinese cabbage or 1/2 of a large one, cut into large pieces
8 oz ham, sliced
4 oz glass noddle ( optional)
5 cups chicken broth
Salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste
1 stalk green onion



Step 1:    Add hot water to a pot then add glass noddle.   Let it soak till glass noddle becomes soft. About 10 minutes.


Step 2:    Heat  oil in a large soup pot on medium heat.  Add ginger and ham.   Cook for 1 minute.   Add cabbage and a generous grinding of black pepper. Cook until cabbage is soft. about 5 minutes.   Add broth.   Cover and bring to a boil.  Add glass noddle.  Reduce heat and simmer 5  minutes.



Season with salt (depending on the saltiness of your ham and broth, you may not need any), black pepper. Serve hot, garnishing with green onion if you like.
