Beer Braised Chicken Wings
So how about trying out this yummy beer braised chicken wings tossed in a sweet boozy sauce at your next party? It will definitely be the talk of the evening!
Ingredients
2 pounds chicken wings
1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
1/4 cup dark brown sugar
2 tablespoons minced garlic
1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
1 teaspoon Szechuan peppercorns, dry toasted until fragrant
5 dried red chiles, crushed
1 bunch scallions, whites sliced thinly across, greens in 2-inch pieces
2 star anise
1/4 cup rice vinegar
2 bottles ale beer, such as Bass or Sam Adams Summer Ale
Vegetable oil, for frying
White sesame seed for garnish
Direction:
Step 1: Clean and dry the chicken wings. Make a few cuts on each chicken wing to better get in the favor. Heat up a pan. Add oil. Place the chicken pieces in the pan. Let fry until they are slightly brown.
Step 2: Add ginger, green onion, star anise, garlic, and dry red chilis. Fry on a medium high heat until fragrant. Add beer. Add soy sauce, rice vinegar and sugar. Bring the water to a boil. Cook for 15 minutes on a low heat with the lid on. Give everything a quick stir. Then put the lid back on and continue cooking for another 10 minutes.
Garnish with white sesame seed (optional) Serve
